White Christmas is feel-good holiday musical based on the film of the same name. Bob and Phil, two army vets turned entertainers, team up with a sister act to make their former general's Christmas a little more magical. The general is now a struggling innkeeper who just happens to have hired Bob and Phil's new entertainer friends, the Haynes sisters, for a Christmas show. The boys follow the girls up to Vermont to throw the general the greatest Christmas celebration imaginable. I was the props designer on this show. I oversaw everything relating to props on this show including sourcing items, builds, set dressing, budget, and the team of artisans.

As a team of designers, we wanted this show to have two strong Christmas aesthetics: a very cozy, traditional feel for the Columbia Inn and a glitzy, Hollywood feel for everything associated with the entertainment industry. This was primarily reflected in color palettes and style choices. The Columbia Inn incorporated lots of deep reds, greens, and browns and the patterns and objects were more old-fashioned. The Hollywood style primarily used pastel blues, yellow, light browns, and some bright red. The patterns and objects for this aesthetic were very modern and sleek, for the 1950s that is!
